Cyclone the storm is projected to strengthen into a rare Category 5 cyclone as it shifts toward Jamaica, delivering life-threatening flash flooding and landslides.

This weather system, which recorded winds of up to 120 mph as of 0600 Greenwich Mean Time, is presently veering northwest in the Caribbean and is expected to make landfall by midweek, based on data from hurricane specialists.

Residents are being advised to protect their properties with sandbags and timber panels, and to stock up on essentials.

Warnings are also active for regions of the neighboring country including the capital, Port au Prince, the neighboring country and eastern Cuba, where the hurricane is projected to bring similar effects by the middle of next week.

Rock slides already being caused by the cyclone have caused two deaths in the country, according to the nation's Civil Protection agency.
